Nuzzlets

Nuzzlets is a small Charity, based near Great Ouseburn, York. Nuzzlets specialises in giving loving homes to unwanted animals and gives young people free access to these animals for therapy and education. Nuzzlets specialise in visits for children with disabilities, special needs and life-threatening illnesses. They also help adults with mental health issues.

Children can visit the farm with their families or in groups. Nuzzlets also visits a local Children’s Hospice, special needs schools, nursing homes and inner-city nurseries. They teach children about animal welfare through presentations and work placements.

They have gained DEFRA accreditation and been awarded a certificate through the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme. They have won Government Approval as a “countryside classroom”. They have now also been accredited as a care farm.

We decided to work with Mary Chapman at Nuzzlets as we wanted a charity that helped animals and children as well.  Nuzzlets does exactly this with the Animal Therapy it provides for children with special needs and life-threatening illnesses.
