Veterinary Surgeon
Fancy a change? Want to work in a practice for a great salary with No OOH’s!
Veterinary Surgeon
Salary: DOE, discussed at interview
New Grads starting from £30,000 pa. More experienced Vets from £60,000 pa
Hours: 35 hrs pw. No OOH’s
Plus 5 weeks holiday, staff discounts, excellent rota & pension scheme
Location: Gosport, Hampshire
Job ref: 672
At Vetfinders we are helping Neighbourhood Vets in Hampshire find their next hire.
They have a new opportunity for a proactive, enthusiastic and experienced Vet to join their team at this growing small animal practice
Role
Standard working week is 35hrs pw (currently 5 x 7 hrs days pw). The exact rota will ultimately depend on the candidate and their experience. This is likely to end up as a shift pattern during the week (e.g., 9 – 4 or 10 – 5). This will give you more scope with your spare time. Coming at a later date, potentially a Saturday morning (with a half-day in lieu).
New/recent grad (no sole charge; can consult, perform anaesthetics and minor ops / diagnostics unassisted; requires approx. 20min for most non-routine consults; hands-on support needed with spays and more complex surgical procedures; structured mentoring required) – £30 – 35k basic
10y or more experience (comfortable sole charge; able to keep to 15min consults majority of the time; competent with all routine surgeries and diagnostic procedures; tells me to mind my own business when I try and mentor) – £60k+ basic
This could suit a very competent 1st year graduate or more experienced vets.
Benefits
- professional memberships,
- 5 days CPD / £1250 allowance,
- Employee discounts.
- 5 weeks holiday plus Birthday off.
- Pension scheme.
- Medical insurance
- If applicable, membership of either VetX or Grads to Vets new grad schemes.
- Also members of the Vetsure New Grad Scheme which may offer some additional reassurance in terms of the support you can expect.
The Practice
Neighbourhood Vet (NHV) is not a corporate practice in the traditional sense (e.g., multiple practices owned by a single entity which has overall, harmonised control of those businesses) – it's a single-site practice which is owned by a corporate business (Jollyes pet stores) but acts independently as far as operations, business decisions (within limits) and clinical practice is concerned. We're in a sort of "twilight zone" between corporate and independents.
This role is a fantastic opportunity to provide excellent patient care in a practice that understands that modern veterinary life is challenging (especially at present).
