This is an independent mixed practice (the vacancy is for a 100% Small Animal vet), comprising of three surgeries. They are located in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, with excellent airport, train and motorway links. They are RCVS accredited, and provide SVN training through the College of Animal Welfare, and they are also a main centre providing clinical services for the Blue Cross. The Role:

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will need to be able and be comfortable with a mixture of consultations and surgical procedures of general practice, roughly 80% Equine caseload, 20% farm/ large animal. Confident and competent in the role, some sole charge in OOH’s work. Training will be given and mentoring is encouraged.

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, this is not essential, but preferred. Consideration for new graduates also.

 

This role is being offered on a permanent basis, hours worked over 5 days (8 hours). In addition, a weekend rota 1 in 5, 1 night per week OOHs with days off in lieu.

 

Development and progression are important to the practice, as they grow and evolve, but finding the right person is key. The practice is looking for someone to work with their existing clients, and deliver their high excellent standard of patient care. The team currently have strong work ethics to ensure quality and effective work is carried out to gain the best overall satisfied results for the patient and the client.

  • 10 hours shifts, 0800 – 1900
  • One evening on-call, 1200 – 2200
  • 1:5 Weekends, 0800 – 1800

The vets work between the 3 surgeries on a rota system working a 4-day week. There is on-call until 10pm when the phones then go over to vets now

They also work weekends on a rota system 1 in 5 weekends, hours for weekends are 08.30-18.00 both Saturday and Sunday

The weekly schedule is made up of consultations, operations, on-call and dealing with any emergencies

A minimum of 2 years’ experience is preferred.

The Practice

We are a Small animal practice which consists of our main surgery and 2 branches surgeries, we have all the usual equipment including dental x-ray and laparoscopic equipment.

We have a team of 10 vets and 8 nurses and 2 kennel assistants
