Salary:                 From £33-60k pa, Dependent on Experience/ hours

Hours:                  Permanent, average 40 hours per week, 1in 4 Saturdays mornings, no OOHs or Bank Holidays

VetFinders are proud to work in partnership with this outstanding independent practice based in Glasgow, Scotland. They are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their talented ,friendly and dedicated team, where they focus every day on ensuring a genuine work and life balance is achieved.

 

The Role:

 

This is a Veterinary Surgeon role, and as such you will need to be registered with RCVS, experience is not a huge factor, this practice is happy to look at all levels of experience from suitable applicants. That being said there is an opportunity for an experienced Vet and a New graduate available currently. Certificate holders are welcome to apply, and the support of CPD is greatly encouraged.

 

  • Hours

This practice is flexible to offer part- or full-time hours, ideally, we are looking for someone who can work up to 40hours per week, including a 1 in 4 Saturday morning on rota. No Sunday or bank holiday working or on call. With structured days, no long hours, consultations by appointment, a wide range of clinical treatment options and medicines and no OOH you can help to deliver great outcomes for patients and clients. Consultations are 15 minutes, but the practice firmly believes that to provide a high standard of owner and pet compliance, longer consultation appointments can be arranged to enhance history taking and client interaction.

 

  • Clinical Freedom

The practice believes in Clinical freedom on treatment options, you’re not restricted to limited ranges of medicines. We find having the clinical liberty to provide safe and sound medicines under the cascade system when possible, the best way to ensure patients, get the treatment they need, as cost effectively as possible.

 

  • Work life balance

Being independent means that the rotas can be flexible and accommodating to individual needs of every team member. The days/ rotas are structured with regular and genuine breaks.

Team support is essential to the practice, and in abundance, sharing and reviewing caseloads, having open dialogue and conversations with peers over coffee, and sharing clinical experience is important to us.

 

  • CPD

Very supportive and happy to encourage all CPD, just pick the course that suits you and we will accommodate this. We encourage networking with other Veterinary professionals, attending shows, festivals and workshops, online courses and sometimes the ‘lunch and learns’ with pharmaceutical companies! (Usually Pizza).

 

The Practice and team:

 

As a practice, that are close knit, very friendly and professional, there is a strong family feel to the practice and they are well known and respected within the local and surrounding communities. Seeing many of the families, come back to them generation after generation. Having been first established over 70 years ago, the veterinary procedures and treatments may have changed over the years but their passion and commitment to service and care has not faltered.

 

The team is made up currently of 3 Vets, 4 RVNs, 1 ACA and 2 Receptionists.

The experienced nursing team are so happy and eager to assist with all of the in-patients and will organise , hospitalise ,monitor and chart vital signs pre, peri and post operatively working closely with the attending veterinary surgeon . The pets absolutely adore the nurses .

 

Also a RCVS PSS and SVN training practice, who are very busy with EMS students. Supporting future talent is important to them also.

 

The location of the practice is easy to travel to and from with major roads and motorways and also train and bus services abound . Fantastic transport links, onsite car park also.

 

Practice Toys/ Equipment:

 

  • Digital X-ray facilities with sliding table for ease of positioning patients
  • Dental suite with separate dental X-ray machine ; IM3 dental drill and de-scaler
  • In house blood analysers : Haematology/ Biochemistry and electrolytes / Specific pancreatic lipase / Total thyroxine T4
  • ECG machine
  • Blood pressure machine
  • Modern ultrasound machine
  • a choice of modern pre-medicants and induction agents for anaesthesia
  • qualified nurses to assist and monitor perioperative general anaesthesia
  • External laboratory services : Idexx labs and Glasgow University Diagnostic Services Lab
  • Referral centres we use for example for : the Oncology/ Neurology / Orthopaedics / Specialist soft tissue surgery are Vets Now Referrals / Glasgow University Veterinary School / Broadleys’ Veterinary Hospital / Crumpets
