Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

  • Location: Maypole - Ayrshire, Ayrshire
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #780

Mixed Veterinary Surgeon. Maybole, South Ayrshire £40k-£55k. DOE

You became a vet because you love animals, you care, and are good at your job. A vet who wants to spend time with patients, and see cases through, not production line consults, and a target driven environment where the bottom line is everything.
You’re a vet. You can answer this:

Isn’t it a nicer experience all around when clients you meet are calm and friendly? A client base that knows you personally. Respectful and understanding as they have been coming to you for years.

A practice with relaxed friendly environment,  a team of experienced like-minded vets, owning cases and discussing cases, helping each other without targets to worry about.
Luckily, there are still places like this and one of them is hiring.
Based in the pretty village of Maybole, South Ayrshire, they are a modern proudly independent five vet practice, 4 mixed and 1 small animal. With a loyal client base and waiting list they could expand but their focus is prioritising these clients and their staff.
As a result, this is not just a job it’s a community they’ll work together – as a team – to make the place the best it can be.
They are recruiting for a Mixed Vet,  approx 45% small, 45% farm, 10% horses, with the possibility to do more equine if interested. Ideally somebody with 2 years plus but they are flexible. A kind emphatic person is more important to them than experience.   There is also the possibility of buying into the practice in the future.

The salary will be £40k-£55k, DOE.  All fees paid. Work van provided, accommodation away from practice, or allowance provided. CPD as and when you require, no set budget, certificates encouraged. They have an employee assistance scheme, pension and 6 weeks holiday inc BH’s.

They operate a fair rota averaging 38 hours over 4 days with a fixed day off each week.  1 in 4 OOH, fixed night. Consult between 10.30am and 12pm on Saturdays only ( 1 in 4 ) On call after Sat and Sunday, sole charge on weekends and OOH. Friday off after a weekend on call. Lots of catch up spaces in the diary.

Located in a beautiful area of southwest Scotland, with plenty of opportunities for long walks, running, cycling and only a 10 min drive to the nearest stunning beach and castle.

A new sports centre, school, local train station on your doorstep and with plenty of restaurants and shops what’s not to like?   If you fancy reducing your handicap, Turnberry one of the top golf courses in the world is only 15 min drive away.

Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You’re a good vet who cares about the patients. Most importantly, you want somewhere you can learn, add value and call home.
So, what’s next?
Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date.  We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
Be a more fulfilled vet.
