Specialist Pig Veterinary Surgeon – York – £30-60k PA, DOE

A specialist independent of Pigs, Beef, and Sheep is looking to expand, here is an opportunity to develop and join a supportive and developing team of Veterinary professionals.

You are a Vet, we know, but do you have an interest and preference in Pigs – if it’s Yes, then we want to hear from you. This may be the role you are looking for.

Based on the outskirts of the beautiful and historic city of York, this practice has not only the city on its doorstep but the East Coast and Yorkshire Countryside within easy commute. It really is a beautiful, and expansive place to live, with activities for all within easy reach.

As a proud, long-standing, independent practice, this role is born through growth, expansion, and demand on the successful practice. They have a loyal client base with a great reputation in the surrounding marketplace.

In 2018, they moved into a new, large purpose-built practice, which houses plenty of space and state-of-the-art equipment, including their own in-house lab, large animal equipment, plus much more.

Yes, there is an out-of hours – however, it is limited when it comes to Pigs – but you already know this. The out-of-hours are minimal and as required. Work-life balance is important – the practice understands this. Time is given back in lieu.

Collaboration with the wider team is required and actively encouraged. Therefore, you need to be a team player. You will have the opportunities to work on your own cases, have a supportive environment to discuss cases, offer advice, take advice, and mentorship opportunities within the team. There is an experienced team here, lots to draw from, as well as some newer graduates who could learn from you. It is all about getting the best results possible for every animal.

Michelle is one the of 5 Vets working at this practice, joining in 2015, here is her experience…

Michelle, VET  joined the practice in 2015: “When I joined it provided me with an excellent base starting out as a farm vet including all the training needed for working with pigs, I was handed the ropes and given responsibilities from day one with the support of experienced vets and practice team in the background, over time I have built strong relationships with clients working together to improve health, welfare and profitability in farming and I would love to welcome another vet to our team”

It is important to detail that personal development and progression are both strongly encouraged, CPD is generous and the support of certificates is available. If you are looking to diversify also.

When it comes to perks and benefits, this practice is not shy, it includes a pension scheme, generous CPD allowance and opportunities to travel abroad for work events and conferences, Relocation incentive available, RCVS and VDS fees paid, 5 weeks holiday excl Bank Holidays (pro rata), Flexible working pattern – work-life balance is important.

Overall, this is a friendly, progressive, hard-working, and supportive practice, set in a beautiful part of the country, looking for someone who loves Pigs as much as they do. Is this you?
