Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon. Yelverton, West Devon.  £65k DOE

You love being a vet, you care and you are good at your job.
Long hours, production line consults, and little or no time with the patients are not what you signed up for.
You have experience but it’s not being utilised and you are frustrated, thinking about moving but worried you will get more of the same.
You became a vet to help animals, learn, grow, and give back to the profession you love. Work with a team of experienced vets, own your cases, and see them through in a relaxed environment with zero targets.
Luckily there are still places like this and one of them is hiring.
A two-site modern independent practice on the edge of Dartmoor is recruiting due to growth. Looking for either a new grad or an experienced vet to work alongside their first option team. Owned by a vet and a nurse where a kind, emphatic person is more important to them than previous experience.
A six-vet practice with eleven nursing staff and four receptionists.  Plenty of experience within the team with further qualifications in Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, and general surgery plus experience in Laparoscopic surgery and Dentistry.
They offer a relaxed environment where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time.  A strong team that wants their best for patients with time to work and own your own cases.
With a modern set up, you will expect all the kit and they don’t disappoint.  Two theatres, a new separate dental suite, video endoscopy, full in-house lab, microscope with camera, idexx equipment, catalyst, procyte, sedivue, and more.
Based in Yelverton there is a mix of surgery and consults depending on your interest, an equal time will be spent at the Tavistock practice ( consults only )  a drive of less than six miles away.
They operate a 4 day week, with some flexibility on this. Hours 0830-1730 (or 1830 if on call) 1:6 nights and a weekend rota equally shared but looking to expand further to reduce the frequency.  They provide an out of hours service for their own clients only.  Why would they want to let other people care for their pets! Nurses are on-site out of hours .
With both practices close to the Dartmoor National Park they can boast excellent shopping and restaurants locally, boating and water sports at the local reservoir, walking, climbing, outdoor pursuits in the hills of Dartmoor plus the beautiful beaches of Devon and Cornwall are only a short drive.  If you want to really let your hair down the city of Plymouth is only eight miles away.
Salary and perks: Up to £65k DOE.  RCVS and VDS paid. CPD as you require it. Happy to fund certificates and full access to the Webinar Vet.  8% of salary paid into a  pension and 28 days holiday.
Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You’re a good vet who cares about the patients. Most importantly, you want somewhere you can stick around. A place to help, learn and grow.
So, what’s next?
Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date.  We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
Be a more relaxed fulfilled vet.
