Large Animal Vet. $110k-$130 DOE. Winton, Southland.
You’re a great vet, an experienced vet with an adventurous side who is starting to get itchy feet.
You’ve thought about it for a while and decided to take the plunge, move overseas to learn, grow and utilise those skills.
What if we told you we are working with a rural vet practice proud to serve its community, still maintaining that crucial family feel, based in Winton and they are recruiting?
With walks, shops, restaurants, golf, fishing, and areas of outstanding natural beauty on your doorstep, not to mention skiing in the mountains this can be a role built around your lifestyle.
It’s a big step, we understand that, curious, excited, an adventure on the other side of the world?  Tempted,  read on.
An industry leading animal health provider, with modern clinics based throughout Southland and South Otago, Canterbury, the West Coast and Morrinsville.

With 20 vets at peak, they provide an extensive range of veterinary services to dairy clients, as well as other production animals, working dogs and companion animals.
Developing a culture of ‘team first,’ where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time, is key here.  A strong team with a real focus on well-being who want their best for patient and practice.
Due to growth it’s a five-year experienced large vet they require but they will take less, it’s the right person they want. You’ll develop as a vet and gain experience by working on your own cases. See things through with plenty of mentoring from senior vets. CPD is actively encouraged, a large allowance of $2200 will take care of that.  You will be working a 42.5 hours week with a sensible OOH rota in place.
Salary, perks, and hours: 5 – 8 years out from $110k -$130k per annum with yearly reviews to ensure they remain in the higher level of vet remuneration in NZ.  A $2200k CPD budget – 25% can be used for well-being (some people have bought ski passes with their well-being portion!) A relocation allowance is provided, vet fees paid, and staff discounts. A work vehicle is provided throughout the employment. For the first 4 weeks, this can be for personal use until you purchase your own.  There is also 6 weeks of free accommodation on arrival.  Plus there’s plenty of ‘food for good,’ when on the go, fruit, nibbles and snacks to keep you going.
Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You’re a great vet. You care about the patients and the people bringing them in. Most importantly you want a place to help, learn and grow.
So, what’s next?
Well, we can’t get the whole story in a job ad so send your CV – don’t worry if it’s not up to date to chris@vetfinders.co.uk along with any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
Be a better vet, you, and the animals, deserve it.
