The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Night Veterinary Nurse to join the fabulous team at the hospital. The role is varied and busy and as part of a team you will be expected to undertake all aspects of veterinary nursing. As part of the emergency night service team, you will be responsible for inpatient care, surgical procedures & triaging patients. Another important aspect of the role is having good communication skills with the wider team and clients.

This role is on a fixed term contract for 12 months working 42 hours per week, there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to work the occasional day shift.

They pride themselves on their no blame culture and run monthly reflective rounds to help process difficult events and promote mental well-being. They also hold regular informal catch ups between line reports and their managers, it’s not about how you’re performing, it’s about how you are.

What is required?

They are looking for people with the following:
•           Significant experience of emergency service and critical care nursing
•           Fully qualified Veterinary Nurse
•           Registered with RCVS
•           Experience in all nursing duties
•           Experience of working nights in a veterinary practice

It would also be great if you had:
•           Radiography
•           Use of computerised vet records
•           Triage
•           Critical care nursing
•           Surgical and medical nursing
•           Emergency and critical care nursing certificate

Our client is now recruiting a Deputy Nurse Manager on a permanent basis to join the team. They are a charity, who pride themselves on delivering excellent patient and client care. The successful candidate needs to have strong nursing skills and be able to hit the ground running. They’re not about micromanagement, it’s not fun for anyone, so you will need to work under your own initiative to get the job done. Of course, your manager will be there to support you when needed and we will ensure that you receive opportunities to develop and train

What is required?

•           A genuine interest in providing a high standard of kennel ward management, medical and surgical nursing care, and in ensuring that kennel wards meet these standards
•           Experience of a high level of medical and surgical nursing care
•           Experience of working in a well-run hospital kennel ward environment
•           Experience of training/mentoring new staff of varying capabilities

It would also be great if you had:
•           Significant post-qualification experience
•           Supervision of Veterinary Nursing Staff including volunteers
•           Troubleshooting and finding solutions, being part of managing an area of a hospital and ensuring adequate stock and standards
•           IT skills

•           Advanced diploma in veterinary nursing
•           Clinical coach
•           SQP
•           Experience of performance management and supervising other
•           Experience of supporting student nurses through acting as clinical coach, NVQ assessor etc
