Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

  • Location: Southport - Merseyside, Merseyside
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #767

Small animal veterinary surgeon, £45k-£65k
You love animals. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be a vet. Be weird if you hated them – there’s easier jobs
You want to help them.
The paradoxical thing is, though, if you want to look after them, you can’t do it 24/7.
You need to take care of yourself first. So you’re rested, refreshed, at the best of your abilities when it is time to help.
Not that a lot of practices recommend working all day every day, that’d be daft. But not many can boast a real commitment to giving their vets a satisfying work-life balance.
An independent small animal practice, with the owner having over 40 years of running independent practices.
They’re growing. They need new vets. And they know that to have you grow along with them, they’ll need to give you something you want.
That’s why they’re offering flexible working. Because the role is available due to growth, they’re not scrambling to fill hours. It’s also why they’re so open regarding experience and salary.
This is not just a job. It’s a community. They love what they do. And that makes them better vets. They collaborate, they discuss cases, they learn from each other. You’ll get a budget for your continued professional development, too.
Ideally, you will do five days per week, but we are flexible on this, 9am-5pm.  No OOH and no weekends. Five weeks holiday, plus your bank hols.
Reclaim your downtime.
But it’s not just flexibility on the table.
They’re interested in improving all their vets, and investing in them. Because it’s mutually beneficial.
So you’ll be supported on your certificates. You’re awarded an annual CPD budget. You’ll receive mentoring and coaching on your areas of interest.
They love you discussing cases together, like when they sit around workshopping patients in medical dramas. And everyone enjoys it – we’ve got testimonials if you’re interested.
They are known locally for their outstanding value, they don’t charge inflated prices, and have a  growing and very loyal customer base.
Plus the perks, like a signing-on bonus. Accommodation can be provided. They’ll pay for your RCVS and VDS membership too.
All they’re asking from you is that you’re a good vet. Besides being good technically, you care. And you’ve got your RCVS accreditation.
