Small Animal Veterinarian – Leicestershire – £45-85k DOE, Pro rata
You’re a vet. You can answer this:
Isn’t it a nicer experience when they come into your practice and are calm and friendly?
Now, were you thinking that question was about the animals? Or the people?
You became a vet to help animals. The dealing with people side of things just kind of comes with it.
It’s better when you have a client base that you know. Who are respectful and understanding of what you do, because they’ve been coming to you for years.
And it makes you a better vet because you’ll use all your powers to keep those relationships sweet.
Luckily, there are still places like that. And one of them are hiring.

This is an independent, established for almost a decade, with hundreds of clients. The founders got out of the rat race (no offense to rats) for the same reason many vets do – they wanted their work to mean something.
As a result, it’s not just a job. It’s a community. They love what they do. And that makes them better vets. They collaborate, they discuss cases, and they learn from each other. You’ll get a budget for your continued professional development, too.
They’ll fire up the grill in summer and party over the holidays. But importantly, they’ll work together – as a team – to make the place the best it can be.
Yes, there’s on call, because obviously the animals need it. But it’s reasonable, it’s empathetic. You’ll always have an RVN with you, and the partners are only ever a phone call away. You’re always supported.
It’s not just about the bottom line, either. It’s about the experience. Whether that’s fussing over puppies and kittens, giving new owners the advice they need so that there are positive first memories of the place, or just refilling the gravy bone tub in the waiting room for the dogs to look forward to.

We can’t get the whole story in a job ad. If you want a job that’s more about good people and good pets, and less about big firms, ask me any questions you have. I’m at lucy@vetfinders.co.uk.
Or, if you want to chat to the owners – and I’m convinced their interests will align with yours – send your CV. It doesn’t matter if it’s up to date. I’ll come back to you.
Work somewhere you’re respected by colleagues and clients alike.
