They have an opportunity for a motivated, experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team.

Role

This wonderful internationally renowned Veterinary School Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated RVN to join their team in delivering the highest quality, 5* care to their clients and patients, whilst supervising and teaching the next generation of veterinary clinical staff.

The role will offer a varied caseload, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and certificate-holding surgeons. With no two days being the same, the undergraduate students are taught by the first opinion team, both within their hospital and at the offsite RSPCA clinic.

The role is full-time, 36.5 hours per week, (shifts to meet the needs of this business, but will be between the hours of 7am and 7pm.  The ability to work some OOH shifts, will be agreed in consultation and additional payments made.

Responsibilities

The role will involve organising and providing appropriate clinical services which includes:
 

  • Diary management
  • Scheduling face-to-face consultations with clients
  • Planning and performing diagnostic investigations
  • Preparation and assistance with first opinion procedures
  • Aftercare of patients
  • Prioritise and administer surgical waiting list
  • Routine neutering
  • Routine dental work
  • Support and coordination of surgical caseload
  • Involvement in the anaesthesia of first opinion patients

Candidates must have excellent time management and communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure. This role would be best suited for someone who has a keen interest in all aspects of nursing, ranging from inpatient care, patient preparation for theatre, anaesthesia, and monitoring.  The role also requires the ability to maintain information systems for invoice production and also the recording and management of Class A (schedule 2 and 3) Drugs.

Ideal candidates will have experience working in general practice and/ or referral practice, they will also be experienced in the supervision and teaching of junior and/or student veterinary students and nurses.
