Part Time (23 hours per week) – Mon-Fri 2.00pm-6.30pm and 1:4 Saturdays 8.30am-12.15pm
The Village Veterinary Centre is an independent family-owned practice established in 2001 and situated in Valley Park, Chandlers Ford, providing gold-standard small animal veterinary services to our clients and their pets. The aim is to provide a consistently excellent standard of care to our patients and to offer clients a professional and friendly service they can trust. We are now looking for a well organised receptionist with excellent administration skills and a good understanding of and an interest in animals.
As a receptionist, this will be a wide and varied role in a busy veterinary practice where you will greet and be the first point of contact for clients. You will provide high levels of customer service and responsibilities will include dealing with telephone enquiries, scheduling and planning veterinary appointments, updating client and patient records, stock control, handling medications and occasional hands-on veterinary support. This is a customer facing role and because we are a small team, you will build an excellent rapport with clients and their patients.
The successful candidate for the Receptionist’s role must have a good understanding of animals and be able to empathise with pet owners in what can be a sensitive time for them. As well as holding exceptional administrative/organisational skills and the ability to multi task in a reactive environment, you will need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills supported by the ability to work well under pressure. Effective communication & numeracy skills are also essential as is the flexibility to cover staff holidays & absences. Experience with Microsoft Office IT packages such as Word, data handling and web-based systems are all essential.
Key Experience/ Competencies preferred for the Receptionist’s role: –
Must have suitable previous experience working in a customer facing or focused role
Understanding of small animals and be able to empathise with pet owners essential
Must be able to multi task effectively and work in a fast-paced reactive environment
Must have excellent communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office packages essential
Although not essential, previous experience working in a Veterinary Practice would be highly desirable
Screen in reception. Clients must wear a mask while on the premises.
