RVN

  • Location: Winchester - Hampshire, Hampshire
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #777

Registered Veterinary Nurse. £28k DOE.  Winchester.

You became a nurse to care for animals, simple really. A nurse who always wants the best for the patient and practice.
Nursing isn’t about selling petplans, production line consults with profit as the ultimate driver. This isn’t what you signed up for.
You are a good nurse, you want to be the best nurse you can be, learn, help, and give back to the industry you love.

What if we knew of a family-run independent where targets are minimal, a place where you have time to discuss cases with the team, patients come first and you really can make a difference?
Luckily, there are still places like this and this one is hiring.

A modern practice based in the historic cathedral city of Winchester is hiring for an RVN, they are happy with either a newly qualified nurse or somebody who is experienced but it’s a kind caring nurse that is more important to them than previous experience.
With over 65 years serving the community they have a fantastic loyal client base. Everybody is on the same page here with the team pulling together when there’s work, and relaxing when it’s time. Without shareholders and faceless managers, they can invest in the team and practice, therefore they have all the modern toys with a  brand new operating theatre nearing completion.
You will be getting stuck in from the start admitting/discharging patients, nurse consults, operations, ward duties plus dispensing drugs, with the team on hand to help and guide at all times.
No silly hours here they want you rested, refreshed, and at the best of your abilities when it is time to help, so it’s a 4-day week with no OOH, 1 in every 4 Saturdays, 8 am – 12 pm, no sole charge and all duties shared equally.
A salary of £28k DOE is on offer, all fees paid for plus a CPD allowance, they are keen to help you with your personal development.
Voted the best place to live in 2021 by the Sunday Times Winchester combines the best of city life with the freshness of the surrounding countryside. Restaurants, bars, and shopping are on your doorstep with the New Forest, South Downs, and the coast only a short drive away. What’s not to like?
Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You’re a good nurse, who cares and wants to work with like-minded people in a relaxed modern practice.
So, what’s next?
Send your CV (don’t worry if it’s not up to date). We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
Improve as a nurse with a friendly supportive team.  You deserve it.

Are you stuck in a rut and looking at alternative options?

Being an RVN is tiring, long hours, and mentally exhausting, and without the right support it can be frustrating – sound familiar? Well, this practice gets it, they understand! There has to be a balance between, work, and life, and between development and career advancement.
This independent is a small animal practice that values your skills, individuality, and work/life balance, they are recruiting for a Registered Veterinary Nurse, with immediate effect.
When I spoke to the Practice Manager, I asked, why do people come and work for you, the response was:
“We hold our team to high standards of care and encourage a positive attitude, with ample support provided. We care, and we look after our people “.
Set in the historic backdrop of Windsor, and surrounding areas, this location has lots to offer anyone with any interests—excellent commuter links and leisure activities within the local and surrounding areas.

Work-life balance is important.
You’ll be given a CPD allowance and paid days off to go and train. You are actively encouraged to follow your development and grow your interests.
There are also paid memberships too, and generous holiday entitlement, with the potential to increase them. Lots of team social events too. BHSF Medical Health’s cash plan allows money back for treatments such as dental, opticians, MRI/CT, physiotherapy, and access to the Employee Assistance Program—lots of perks.
It sounds good so far… I thought so!
As for you…
You’re an RVN. If you’ve got experience ideally, but what’s more important is that you care. About the patients, and the people bringing them in. You’re also an awesome team player too.

You love being a nurse, you are good at your job and care.
You want to be involved with an exciting new veterinary business looking to bring the joy back to the profession and to be involved in the decision making, listened to, and help shape the practice.
You have experience but it’s not being utilised and you are frustrated, thinking about moving but worried you will get more of the same.
2 brand new high tech independent practices are opening early 2024.  Owned by vets and run like an independent, not a chain where a kind, emphatic person is more important to them than previous experience.

A vet will be on back up. The role will also cover triage and be part of developing their virtual care offering using their bespoke built and designed technology. An entrepreneurial culture where ideas are listened to and shared with a chance to shape the business and profession.
Developing a culture of ‘team first,’ where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time, is key here.  A strong team who want their best for patient and practice.
With a new practice, you expect new kit and you will not be disappointed. They will have all the best toys and top of the range world class equipment.
A large beautifully designed clinic they want to bring back the joy for teams and clients and are designing/building their own tech app to allow for seamless care.  This is a new business and with it comes its share of teething problems so there needs to be a level of understanding here.
Located in a leafy part of London with great facilities nearby, lovely high street, coffee shops, museums, local tube station and with a short walk to Regents Park.
Ideally, you will work 7 nights on 14 off but there is some flexibility here. They are also looking into renting a flat nearby to help out.
The salary and perks, £37k-41k DOE. VDS, and RCVS/RVN fees paid, CPD encouraged with a £750  budget and 3 days off. 25 days holiday, plus BH’s, day off for your birthday and pension. They will take a new grad or seasoned RVN, but they are flexible, it’s the person that matters most.
Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You’re a good nurse. You care about the patients and the people bringing them in. Most importantly, you want somewhere you can stick around. A place to help, learn and grow.
So, what’s next?
Send your CV (don’t worry if it’s not up to date). We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

  • Location: Oxford - Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #761

 RVN – Oxford – £30,000
This practice specialises in the thing they love, the thing they’re best at. That’s why they’re elite.
You love cats. And why wouldn’t you, they’re so elegant, enigmatic, and unique.
But as a Veterinary Nurse, you don’t always get to specialise.
Sure, treating other animals is great too, but there’ll always be other people to specialise in them.
Why be a Jack-of-all-trades when you could be an elite feline RVN.
There’s an RVN vacancy at a feline-specialist practice. Joining a team of 6, you’ll develop niche knowledge, and learn more about cat treatment, handling and care than a generalist would. You’ll become an authority. Think of the opportunities that gives you.
And not just through the day-to-day experience which this expert team is more than happy to impart. You’ll also be given a CPD allowance and paid days off to go and train.
Still, it’s not just what you’ll learn. This is genuinely an enjoyable place to work.
The staff are friendly, and collaborative. They all love cats as much as you do. Thats one thing in common straight off the bat.
It’s a sensible rota system. Part-time and shift share options available. Only 1 weekend in 5, with extra time off the following week to compensate. No emergency OOH, with one weekday late check, shared with the duty vet. Plus extra paid leave if you’ve got good attendance.
There’s an employee discount scheme, and you’ll have your RCVS and VDS fees paid.
See? Told you it was good.
As for you…
You’re an RVN. If you’ve got any feline focused background already, that’s great. But what’s more important is that you care. About the patients, and the people bringing them in.
You know the cats will have their own personalities just the way humans do, and you’ll do your bit to make the vet experience pleasant for everyone.
So what’s next?
Send your CV (don’t worry if it’s not up to date) to VetFinders. You can ask any questions, and there’s actually a video we can show you.
Specialise. Be the best at cats.
